I would like you to compare/contrast two terms from Core Concepts 2.4.
Topic sentence: Civic life is an activity that connects to an individual's society and community whereas an interest group attempts to influence public policy. Civic life is similar to civic participation in that it asks citizens to be involved in their respective communities. An example of civic life would be a group of students filming a particular news story that impacts their local community, such as how a Harlem Lacrosse team is providing a venue for inner city youth to build strong bonds with teammates instead of dealing drugs after school. Yet, civic life is unlike civic participation regarding scope. Interest groups are wholly focused on altering public perception on a particular topic. For example, an interest group might go into schools and look at their monthly menus, and then attempt to require that school to offer a certain number of healthy options per meal. OR Topic sentence: Civic life is an activity that connects to an individual's society and community whereas an interest group attempts to influence public policy. ________ is similar to _______ by _____________. Yet __________ is unlike __________ regarding __________.

I noticed that many of you were struggling constructing a paragraph that was wholly yours. We will work on a paragraph in class today. I will walk you through the whole process. You just need to tie the sentences together.
We will start working on the construction of this paragraph in class. You are in charge of one term. I want you to analyze this term. I do not want just a definition of each word. I would like you to challenge yourself.
